On the opening day of the weightlifting competition being held at Pokhara, India and Srilanka has dominated over the gold and silver medals. Nepal has scored only 1 gold until now.
Under senior women’s 49 kg, Sneha Soren of India achieved gold medal by scoring a total of 157 points. Srilankan B.G.D. Hansani won silver medal with 155 points. The bronze medalist under the same category has been scored by Bangladeshi athlete Molla Shabira, she has scored 130 total points. Likewise, under the senior Women 45 Kg, Jhilli Dalabehera scored 151 points and D.M.S. Samarakoon attained 139 points to get the gold and silver medal respectively. Nepalese Sangita Rai could score only 1 bronze medal for women’s 45 kg.
Similarly, under women’s 55 kg Indian athlete Bindyarani Devi Sorokhaibam, Bangladeshi Fullpoti Chakma, and Pakistani Saima Shahzad achieved gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In women’s 59 kg, Nepal has scored 1 gold medal. The gold contributing Nepalese athlete is SAnju Chaudhary. SIlver medal has been achieved by the Srilanka n Athlete R.M.N.S. Rajapaksha. Likewise, Fayema Akther of Bangladesh has achieved Bronze medal.

Men’s 61: Under 61 Kg Senior men’s Indian athlete Sidhanta Gogoi, Srilankan athlete D.K.T.W. Palugashinghe, and Bangladeshi athlete Mostain Bella won Gold, silver and Bronze medal respectively.
